EFCC grants bail to ex-NNPCL boss Mele Kyari amid $7.2bn fraud probe
Kyari
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted administrative bail to the former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari.
Kyari had voluntarily appeared before the anti-graft agency over allegations of misappropriating $7.2 billion reportedly earmarked for the maintenance of Nigeria’s refineries during his tenure.
He was grilled by EFCC investigators on Wednesday as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged fraud.
Earlier, the Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the temporary freezing of four bank accounts said to be linked to Kyari. Justice Emeka Nwite issued the order following an ex parte application filed by the EFCC.
