Yahaya Bello denies APC Chairmanship ambition, disowns campaign posters
Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has denied any involvement in the campaign for the National Chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the appearance of posters bearing his image in parts of Abuja.
In a statement released on Thursday by his media office in Lokoja, through Director Michael Ohiare, Bello described the posters as the handiwork of political mischief makers.
Ohiare said the former governor was surprised by reports that his campaign posters had flooded the Federal Capital Territory, stating that such actions were attempts by detractors to tarnish his image.
“They are at it again, having failed on many fronts in their desperate ‘bring-him-down-at-all-costs’ mission,” he said.
He emphasized that Yahaya Bello remains a loyal party member whose unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration is well known among close associates.
According to the statement, Bello has no intention of undermining the APC’s internal processes, nor has he authorised any individual or group to produce or distribute campaign materials on his behalf.
“This is not the first time mischief makers have printed posters in his name, but this time, silence is no longer an option,” Ohiare stated.
He urged the public to disregard the posters and described the act as an attempt to embarrass the former governor and create unnecessary political distractions.
