Why I won’t apologise to Senate – Senator Natasha

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi) on Tuesday returned to her office at the National Assembly after it was reopened by the Sergeant-at-Arms, declaring that she would not apologize as a condition for resuming her duties.

Addressing journalists, she said she had not been officially informed of any requirements tied to her return but expressed concern over reports that a motion might be raised demanding an apology. “I am actually worried as to what apology they expect from me. You can’t apologize for an injustice,” she said.

The lawmaker insisted her suspension was unfair and maintained that she would not retract her stance. She also reflected on the hardships faced during her six-month suspension, while thanking her constituents, family, and colleagues for their support.

“In everything, it shows that sometimes it’s good to put the institutions to test. We can’t be cowed in the face of injustice. No one is more Nigerian than us,” she stated, urging Nigerians to remain hopeful, with faith that “there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
