Why I dumped PDP – Dino Melaye

Dino Melaye
Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s inability to address Nigeria’s deepening political crisis.
Melaye announced his resignation in a letter dated July 30, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 1 in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to him, the PDP has lost the strength and competence needed to rescue Nigeria from what he described as “the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation.”
A close associate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Melaye is currently a leading figure within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), one of the key platforms in the emerging opposition coalition.
His exit adds to the growing number of top politicians leaving the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
