Victor Akande: Former Lagos lawmaker passes away

Hon. Victor Akande, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly who represented Ojo Constituency I, has passed away.

According to reports, Akande who was also a legal practitioner, died on Wednesday from complications arising from an auto crash he was involved in last week in Ojo.

The late lawmaker served two terms in the Assembly between 2015 and 2023. He was first elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, but later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which enabled him to secure a second term in 2019.

During his time in office, Akande held key responsibilities, notably serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

His death has sparked mourning among political circles and constituents in Ojo, who remember him as a committed public servant.
