Veteran Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze passes away

Veteran Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze has passed away at the age of 75, following a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.

The seasoned actor d!ed on Friday, months after news of his illness surfaced, prompting calls for financial assistance to support his urgent medical treatment.

Njemanze, who gained widespread fame in the 1990s, was renowned for his captivating roles in several classic Nigerian films, including Tokunboh, Pounds and Dollars, Atosa, Issakaba, Osuofia in London, Brain Box, and Igbotic Love. His expressive acting style and commanding screen presence earned him a place as one of Nollywood’s most respected figures.

The news of his death has sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes from colleagues, fans, and family members, many of whom praised his immense contributions to the growth of the Nigerian film industry. Condolences and prayers have continued to pour in across social media platforms.

Earlier this month, filmmaker Stanley Ontop had appealed for public support in a video shared on Instagram, revealing that Njemanze was battling prostate cancer and required urgent surgery.
