Veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu dismisses d£ath rumours
Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has debunked viral rumours about his death, assuring fans that he is alive and in good health.
In a video shared on his official Instagram page on Friday, Agu urged the public to disregard the false reports and report the blogger responsible for spreading them.
“Fans and family, please disregard any rumors about my death, and kindly report the page of the blogger who started spreading them. I am very much alive by God’s grace,” he wrote in the post’s caption.
Introducing himself in the video, the actor reaffirmed his vitality, declaring: “Chief Chiwetalu Agu, Okenmiri n’ezoru Oha 1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State, is not going to die anytime soon. Instead, I will be the one to bury my enemies.”
He added that he looked forward to seeing his grandchildren in good health when the time comes.
Agu criticised the gullibility of those who quickly accepted the false claims, expressing concern that such rumours could still gain traction in 2025. “What baffles me is that in this 21st century, 2025, a lot of people are still gullible to believe such things without confirming whether it is true or not,” he said.
The actor also hinted at possible legal steps against larger platforms if they had been involved in circulating the story. “If it were any of the big bloggers who carried the false information, I would have sued them for defamation, economic and business damage,” he noted, adding that the source of the rumour had limited reach.
He concluded the video by calling on his fans and family to dismiss what he described as “diabolical news” about him.
Chiwetalu Agu is a long-serving Nollywood star renowned for his comic expressions and villainous roles in dozens of Nigerian films.
