US closes Abuja embassy, Lagos consulate for Christmas

The United States has announced the temporary closure of its embassy in Abuja and consulate general in Lagos in observance of the Christmas holidays.

The U.S. Mission in Nigeria made the announcement via its official social media platforms on Tuesday, December 23.
According to the statement, both diplomatic offices will remain closed from Wednesday, December 23, through Friday, December 26, 2025, and will resume normal operations on Monday, December 29, 2025.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed from Wednesday, December 23, through Friday, December 26, 2025. We will resume normal work operations on Monday, December 29, 2025,” the statement read.
