Tinubu visits Kano to condole with Dantata family over business icon’s d£ath

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late business mogul and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away on June 28, 2025, at the age of 94.

The President arrived at the Aminu Kano International Airport around 3:30 p.m., where he was received by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, along with senior government officials and traditional leaders.

Accompanied by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other top dignitaries, Tinubu proceeded to the Dantata family residence to sympathize with them and honour the memory of the late philanthropist. He described Dantata as a towering figure in Nigeria’s economic and social development.

“Alhaji Aminu Dantata was a symbol of integrity, humility, and national service,” Tinubu said, while commending his legacy in business, philanthropy, and community development, especially in Northern Nigeria.

Dantata d!ed in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and was buried in Saudi Arabia in accordance with Islamic rites. While the President was out of the country at the time, he had sent a delegation led by Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar to attend the Janazah.

Security was tight throughout the President’s visit, with a heavy presence of security personnel deployed at key locations, including the airport and the Dantata residence. Large crowds of residents and sympathizers gathered to witness the visit and pay their respects.

Tributes have continued to pour in from across the country for the late Dantata, who was celebrated for his vast contributions to commerce and humanity.
