Tinubu using EFCC to suppress opposition voices – PDP on Tambuwal’s arrest

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has strongly criticised the arrest of former governor and serving senator, Aminu Tambuwal, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Tambuwal, who served as governor of Sokoto State for eight years and is a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, was taken into EFCC custody on Monday over allegations of fraudulent cash withdrawals totalling N189 billion.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sanyinnawal, described the arrest as politically motivated, accusing the Federal Government, led by the All Progressives Congress (APC), of using the anti-graft agency to suppress opposition voices.

“The APC-led government is deploying state apparatus to intimidate political opponents while turning a blind eye to corruption allegations against its own members,” the statement read.

The PDP urged its supporters to remain calm, while calling on anti-corruption agencies to conduct their duties with fairness and impartiality.
