Tinubu renames University of Maiduguri after late Muhammadu Buhari

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the renaming of the University of Maiduguri to Muhammadu Buhari University, in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The announcement was made during a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held on Thursday in Abuja, convened to pay tribute to the late statesman, who d!ed earlier this week.

President Tinubu said the renaming was a gesture of national appreciation for Buhari’s lifelong service to Nigeria, both as a military leader and as a two-term civilian president. He also highlighted Buhari’s deep-rooted connection to the North-East region and his significant contributions to the country’s democratic journey and national development.

The Ministry of Education is expected to release further details on the formal process and timeline for the name change in the coming days.
