Tinubu hails Super Falcons for historic 10th WAFCON title

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s Super Falcons following their dramatic victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), securing a record-extending 10th continental title.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the team for their exceptional resilience and fighting spirit, which saw them come from two goals down to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final in Rabat.
“The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit,” the President said.
He praised the players for their dedication and perseverance, describing their triumph as the fulfillment of a national aspiration.
“With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for,” Tinubu stated. “The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you.”
