Three councilors suspended in Delta over alleged misconduct

The legislative arm of Ughelli North Local Government Area in Delta State has suspended three councilors for alleged gross misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of oath of office.

The affected councilors are Hon. Festus Oke Inana (Orogun Ward 9), Hon. Oke Doris Isodje (Agbarho Ward 20), and Hon. Collins Oghenebrorhie Arhiakpore (Agbarha Ward 1). Their suspension, which will span six plenary sittings, takes immediate effect following a resolution passed during a legislative session.

In addition to their suspension, the lawmakers have been barred from participating in any legislative activity pending the outcome of an investigation into the allegations.

A suspension letter signed by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Tagbajumi Emmanuel, directed the trio to appear before a four-member ad-hoc disciplinary committee constituted to probe the matter. The panel is chaired by the Majority Leader, Hon. Ese Agbobore, with Hon. Israel Palmar and Hon. Eshanome serving as members, and Hon. Henry Omonigho as secretary.

The committee is expected to submit its findings within a month.

Presiding over the plenary, the Leader of the House, Hon. Prosper Ajero, emphasized the legislature’s dedication to upholding integrity, transparency, and discipline in the conduct of its affairs.

The suspension resolution was endorsed by ten lawmakers, led by Ajero.
