TCN refutes IBEDC claim on Osogbo substation fault

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has dismissed recent claims made by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) regarding a power supply disruption in Osun State.
In a statement released on August 5, 2025, TCN clarified that there was no fault on its equipment at the Osogbo transmission station as alleged.
IBEDC had, in a publication dated August 4, attributed its inability to deliver power between 00:00hrs and 13:00hrs on the Osogbo/Ikirun 33kV feeder to a fault on TCN’s circuit breaker at the Osogbo 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
Reacting to the claim, TCN stated firmly that no such fault occurred during the specified period. The company emphasized that its transmission infrastructure in Osogbo remained fully operational throughout.
“We would like to state that there was no fault on the circuit breaker in question during the period referenced,” TCN noted in the statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs.
TCN advised IBEDC to ensure that any information shared with the public, especially regarding service delivery, is accurate and verified. It stressed the importance of maintaining credibility and transparency in customer communications.
While acknowledging that technical systems may experience occasional issues, TCN reiterated its commitment to transporting bulk electricity efficiently to distribution companies across Nigeria.
According to the agency, ongoing rehabilitation and expansion efforts across its transmission network are geared toward improving service reliability and meeting growing demand.
The company concluded by requesting that IBEDC review and update its earlier publication to reflect the true situation on ground.
