Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi is reportedly attracting interest from Bundesliga side Werder Bremen as he struggles for game time at Nottingham Forest.

According to German outlet Sport, Bremen are pursuing a season-long loan deal for the 27-year-old, with no permanent transfer currently planned.

Awoniyi joined Forest from Union Berlin in 2022 but has dropped in the pecking order following the arrivals of Igor Jesus and Arnaud Kalimuendo.

He has yet to make an appearance this season.

Manager Nuno Espírito Santo continues to rely on Chris Wood as the first-choice striker, while Awoniyi’s playing opportunities have been limited by both injuries and competition for attacking positions.

Werder Bremen sees Awoniyi’s Bundesliga experience as a key asset and could complete a move before the transfer window closes on September 1.
