Snoop Dogg becomes co-owner of Swansea City in landmark move

Global rap icon Snoop Dogg has officially joined the ownership team of English Championship club Swansea City, marking a surprising and high-profile venture into football, REPUBLICAN NIGERIA reports.

The Welsh club announced the news on Thursday, revealing that the 53-year-old American entertainer, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, is now a co-owner. He joins Croatian football legend Luka Modrić, who also acquired a stake in the club earlier this year after departing Real Madrid for AC Milan.

Snoop Dogg’s involvement had been hinted at last week when he appeared in Swansea City’s social media campaign, modeling the club’s new home kit for the 2025/26 season. The club has now confirmed that the collaboration extends beyond marketing — the rap star is now a full investor.

His entry into football ownership follows the takeover of the club by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November 2024. The new leadership is focused on expanding Swansea’s global brand and generating additional revenue, particularly under the UK’s profit and sustainability regulations.

Speaking on the club’s official website, Snoop Dogg said:

Club officials believe Snoop Dogg’s massive global following — over 100 million on social media — will be instrumental in boosting the club’s visibility as it aims to return to the Premier League, where it last played in 2018.

“This announcement is the ‘next episode’ for Swansea City,” the club’s owners said in a playful reference to one of Snoop Dogg’s hits. “Snoop’s global fanbase gives us an incredible platform to grow the club’s reach, and he has been enthusiastic throughout the entire process. Swansea’s cross-country rivals, Wrexham, have seen tremendous success since being purchased by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2020 — rising from non-league football to the Championship. Swansea now hopes for a similar resurgence, driven by music, celebrity, and renewed ambition.
