Seyi Tinubu, Yari bag Chieftaincy titles in Oyo

The ancient town of Oyo is buzzing with activity as the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, prepares to confer the chieftaincy title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland on Seyi Tinubu.

The ceremony has drawn a large gathering of dignitaries, including political leaders, traditional rulers and senior government officials from across Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.

Seyi Tinubu, an entrepreneur and son of President Bola Tinubu, is a trained lawyer with degrees from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2013.

Also to be honoured is Senator Abdulaziz Yari, representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, who will receive the title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland. Yari currently chairs the Senate Committee on Water Resources and Sanitation.

Among those in attendance are Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, members of the Federal Executive Council and several traditional rulers.

The event has boosted commercial activities around the venue, with traders making brisk sales, while Fuji musician Saheed Osupa entertains guests.

Oyo is a historic Yoruba kingdom founded about a thousand years ago by Oranmiyan and was once one of the most powerful states in the region.
