The Nigerian Senate has stopped Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, from resuming her legislative duties, despite her claim of having completed a six-month suspension.

In a letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate acknowledged receiving her notification to return on the same date, which she argued marked the end of her suspension period.

However, the Senate stated that her suspension remains in effect pending the outcome of a case she filed against the upper chamber at the Court of Appeal.

“The matter remains sub judice, and until the judicial process is concluded, no administrative action can be taken to facilitate your resumption,” the letter read in part.

The Senate added that her suspension would only be reviewed after the appellate court delivers its ruling.
