Sanwo-Olu commends LASIEC, describes Lagos LG elections as peaceful, well-organized

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has lauded the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for conducting what he described as a peaceful and well-organized local government election across the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, cast his vote at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday at Polling Unit 006, Ward E3, located at St. Stephen’s, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island.

Speaking shortly after voting, the governor expressed satisfaction with the electoral process, noting the orderly presence of electoral officers, party agents, and voters at the polling unit.

“As you can see, everything is okay here. Apart from the fact that it’s a heavily populated area, Lagos Island, everything is going on well. The atmosphere is peaceful, and all party agents are on ground,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged minor delays in early morning movements due to limited public transportation but commended the timely deployment of electoral materials and LASIEC ad-hoc staff across polling units.

“The beauty of it is all the officers, LASIEC ad-hoc staff, are on ground with all the necessary materials. We are also glad that the weather has been peaceful,” he added.

He encouraged residents to come out and perform their civic duty peacefully and responsibly.

The governor also appreciated the efforts of LASIEC and the media for their roles in ensuring a successful election process.

“I want to thank all LASIEC staff and commend members of the press. You are giving this election the national coverage it deserves. The grassroots is critical; the councillors and chairmen are as important as other arms of government,” he stated.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the election would conclude peacefully and that results would be announced in a timely manner.
