Recruitment portal for Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies suffers glitches on opening day
The official recruitment portal for Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies encountered major technical issues on its launch day, Monday, July 14, 2025, leaving thousands of hopeful applicants frustrated.
The portal, managed by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), had been rescheduled from its initial opening date of June 26, 2025. The board had earlier cited “adjustments in schedule” as the reason for the delay, announcing the new launch date in a public statement.
However, by mid-day Monday, the portal—recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng—remained inaccessible. A countdown clock on the site continued to display several hours to launch, sparking confusion and anger among users.
Applicants took to social media to express their frustration, posting screenshots and videos of the non-functional site. One user, @geniushawla, tweeted, “Una just dey add more hours every minute,” while @felixtraco wrote, “Like seriously, I was like 12:00, it changes to 1:30, then changes again with additional 5 hours.”
Others mocked the poor functionality, with a post reading, “Be like the server na 2GB RAM laptop,” drawing laughter and concern in equal measure.
In addition to the delays, concerns over the portal’s security were raised. A user, @gbengaguwa, tagged the Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a tweet warning that the site was not secure. “ATTENTION HM @BTOofficial… This recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng IS NOT A SECURE site… Your immediate and quick intervention is required Honourable Minister, in order to avoid innocent applicants falling victim to hackers and scammers,” the post read.
Other users echoed similar sentiments, lamenting the site’s instability and lack of communication from the authorities. “You are live but your website is not accessible,” tweeted @nnewi300, while @theodora05760 added, “Was following countdown… and boom, it stop and didn’t open again.”
The recruitment exercise covers four key paramilitary agencies: the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).
As of press time, the CDCFIB had not released any further statement regarding the technical or security issues plaguing the portal.
