The Police Service Commission (PSC) has refuted claims circulating on social media that the recruitment of new police personnel has commenced for the 2025 exercise.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission described the reports as “misleading and mischievous,” urging the public to disregard them.
“The Commission has not commenced this exercise and will follow established procedures when it is ready,” the statement read. “Prospective candidates are advised to ignore fake announcements and await official communication from the Commission.”
The PSC expressed concern over repeated attempts by fraudsters to deceive the public, particularly ahead of actual recruitment exercises.
The Commission also called on security agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals behind the scam in order to safeguard the integrity of the recruitment process.
It further reiterated its commitment to a transparent, merit-based recruitment process, warning that anyone found attempting to exploit the system would face legal consequences.
