Prominent Osun lawmaker dumps PDP

Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, who represents Osun Central in the National Assembly, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing persistent internal crises and factional divisions within the party.

Fadeyi announced his resignation in a letter dated June 12, which was addressed to the PDP chairman in Ward 3, Oke-Ejigbo, Ila-Orangun. The letter was made available to journalists on Saturday in Osogbo.

According to the senator, his decision was informed by irreconcilable differences and a series of legal battles that have plagued the party over the past three years, leading to a deeply fractured national leadership.

“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the letter read. “Irreconcilable differences and irreparable division have emerged, along with court cases and counter court cases in the last three years, which have created factions in the party at the national level.”

Fadeyi added that the decision followed extensive consultations with his political associates, family, and friends.

This latest development comes weeks after Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East, also resigned from the PDP, raising concerns about the party’s internal stability in Osun State and beyond.
