The Presidency has refuted claims that Muhammed Babangida, son of former military leader General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, turned down his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).

Presidential aide, Olusegun Dada, in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, said Babangida has accepted the appointment and expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Muhammed Babangida has officially accepted his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), expressing deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the trust reposed in him,” the statement read.

Babangida dismissed the viral reports of his rejection as “false and malicious,” describing them as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and discredit the Tinubu administration.

Dada further stressed that the Presidency will not take the matter lightly and promised that those behind the fake news would be identified and held accountable.

He called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify information from credible sources before sharing.

Babangida’s appointment is among several strategic roles recently approved by President Tinubu aimed at strengthening leadership in key government institutions.
