Popular police officer dies
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said CSP Ngbaronye passed away on Friday after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere.
Adebisi described her passing as a huge loss to the Command, noting that she was a disciplined and upright officer who served with exceptional professionalism and integrity.
“CSP Ngbaronye was known for her diligence, discipline, and devotion to duty. Her humane approach to policing helped strengthen police–public relations,” Adebisi stated.
She added that Ngbaronye was never found wanting in the discharge of her duties, and her death came as a shock to the entire Command.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohumdare Jimoh, has extended condolences to the bereaved family, including her husband and elder brother, a priest, whom he personally contacted to convey the Command’s sympathies and support.
Adebisi noted that burial arrangements would be announced later and prayed for the repose of her soul.
