PDP sets up Zoning Committee ahead of National Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday inaugurated its National Convention Zoning Committee (NCZC) to decide the allocation of party offices ahead of its November elective convention.
At the ceremony in Abuja, acting National Chairman Umar Damagum urged members to prioritise justice, inclusivity, and strategic thinking, describing the panel as the “engine room” for shaping the party’s next leadership.
He stressed the need for leaders of integrity and competence, warning that loyalty without capacity is insufficient.
National Organising Secretary Umar Bature called the assignment critical to the PDP’s revival, with Senate Minority Leader Abba Morro warning against repeating past zoning mistakes.
Board of Trustees representative Inna Shiroma and PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman Bala Mohammed pledged full support, urging decisions that strengthen unity and prepare the party for 2027.
Committee Chairman and Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri promised a consultative and fair process.
