Oyo State gets new Commissioner of Police

A new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Femi Haruna, as been appointed the 48th officer to lead the state police command.

Mr. Haruna officially assumed duty at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, where he addressed journalists during his inaugural press briefing.

In his speech, the new police chief pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, especially in the fight against crime. He stated that the police under his leadership will intensify efforts to ensure public safety across the state.

Haruna emphasized the importance of collaboration with sister security agencies, credible informants, and the media in combating criminal activities. He called for a united approach to security and urged the public to cooperate with the police.

He promised to establish a strong partnership with residents of Oyo State and encouraged them to report suspicious movements or individuals, assuring that the police would respond swiftly and appropriately.

The new commissioner also commended his predecessor, Mr. Johnson Adenola, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), for his efforts in enhancing the state’s security framework.

Additionally, Mr. Haruna acknowledged the support of Governor Seyi Makinde in strengthening the security architecture of the state, describing his contributions as instrumental to the progress made so far.

With this transition, the Oyo State Police Command begins a new chapter under CP Femi Haruna’s leadership, aimed at reinforcing peace and safety for all residents.
