Oyo lawmaker Adeyemi unveils mid-term education report

Hon. Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, who represents Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has presented his mid-term report on education, detailing projects carried out between 2023 and 2025.

In the report, Adeyemi, popularly known as Skimeh, highlighted a series of initiatives aimed at improving access to learning facilities and promoting digital skills among students in his constituency.

He noted that in February 2023, he sponsored capacity building in information and communication technology (ICT), during which 150 laptops were distributed to beneficiaries.

This was followed by the commissioning of ICT centres at SPED International Secondary School in May 2023, as well as at the School of Science, Saabo; Ilora Community Commercial High School, Ilora; and St. Francis Catholic College, Oyo, all in October of the same year. He also trained 50 constituents in ICT skills, providing each participant with a laptop.

The lawmaker further supported academic competitions by donating National Examination Council (NECO) forms to 20 outstanding students during the National Association of Oyo Students Mathematics Competition held in memory of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, in October 2023.

At the same event, about 700 students received notebooks and textbooks, while the most outstanding competitor, Oladoja Judah of SPED International, was presented with a laptop.

In October 2024, Adeyemi commissioned a new block of six classrooms at Community High School, Awumoro, and also offered a federal university scholarship with a cash prize to Miss Aleem Aishat of Fiditi Grammar School, the winner of the Oba Adeyemi Mathematics Competition. Other participants, including Miss Salawu Faoziyat of Model High School, Miss Oluwaleye Esther of Olivet Baptist High School, and Miss Olayiwola Faizol of Anglican Methodist Grammar School, Apaara, were rewarded with cash prizes for their performance in a debate contest.

He also distributed textbooks and notebooks to about 1,000 students at the 2024 edition of the mathematics competition.

Adeyemi assured constituents that more projects are underway, reaffirming his commitment to educational development. “We are not resting. More to come. Oyo o ni bajẹ,” he said.
