The Oyo State Government has disavowed a circulating notice aimed at pensioners regarding a supposed verification exercise.

In a statement released to journalists on Friday, the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Salihu Adelabu, described the notice—which asked pensioners to submit photocopies of their pension authority certificates, along with bank account details and phone numbers—as false and fraudulent. He urged pensioners to disregard it.

Adelabu warned pensioners to stay alert against misinformation, stressing that the Ministry of Establishments and Training will directly contact eligible pensioners when it is their turn to receive benefits.

He highlighted that all official communications come through recognised and credible channels, encouraging pensioners to verify any suspicious messages before taking action.

Reaffirming the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration to pensioners’ welfare, Adelabu assured that due process and transparency will be maintained in all pension and gratuity matters.

He also appealed to the public to help spread accurate information, emphasizing that protecting retirees from fraud and misinformation is a collective responsibility.
