Oyo APC stages protest over alleged victimisation of lawmaker for ‘exposing secret loan approval’
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday staged a peaceful protest in Ibadan over alleged threats against one of its lawmakers, Hon. Ibraheem Shittu.
The protest, which began at the party’s secretariat in Oke Ado, was led by the state chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas, alongside other party members.
Shittu, who represents Saki West Constituency, had recently raised concerns over the Oyo State House of Assembly’s approval of a ₦300 billion loan request by Governor Seyi Makinde.
The APC claimed the lawmaker had been receiving threats since making the disclosure.
Addressing journalists, Abas said the demonstration was to show solidarity with Shittu and to demand his protection.
He also urged the governor to account for previous loans obtained by the state.
