Osun PDP’s allegations against Oyetola on 2026 polls baseless – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has strongly refuted allegations made by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, describing them as false, unfounded, and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the APC accused the PDP of fabricating lies to tarnish the image of the former governor and distract from its own failures in governance. The party noted that the PDP, facing dwindling support and internal instability, has resorted to spreading misinformation in a desperate bid to stay relevant.
“It is shameful that the ruling party in Osun would concoct such blatant falsehoods against Alhaji Oyetola. The allegations are not only baseless but clearly aimed at misleading the public and damaging the reputation of our party leader,” the statement read.
The APC categorically denied claims that Oyetola threatened to rig the upcoming 2026 elections or that he is colluding with the police or the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). It also dismissed as false the suggestion that the minister is pressuring the Attorney-General of the Federation to create access to local government funds for reinstated APC chairmen and councillors, noting that the matter has already been settled by a Court of Appeal judgment delivered on February 10, 2025.
According to the APC, the PDP is haunted by its own poor performance and is now fabricating imaginary meetings and conspiracies. “There was no secret meeting of APC stakeholders as alleged. The public deserves facts, not fiction,” the party stated.
The statement further accused Governor Ademola Adeleke and the PDP leadership of paranoia, claiming that the governor’s unsuccessful attempt to defect to the APC is fueling their hostility. It also cited past instances where the PDP state chairman, Mr. Sunday Bisi, made unverifiable accusations, such as alleging assassination plots and arms stockpiling, which were later exposed as lies.
As the 2026 elections approach, the APC warned that any attempt to manipulate the process—such as allowing extended voting hours like those reportedly seen in Ede during the 2022 polls—would be lawfully challenged.
The party concluded by urging Osun residents to disregard what it called “a pattern of fabricated lies and distractions,” and instead focus on demanding real governance and accountability from the PDP-led administration.
