The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Ajibade Gbenga, a traditional chief in Ipetu-Ijesa, for allegedly forcing a boy, Ebenezer, to drink poison after accusing him of stealing two pieces of maize from his farm in Ilesa.

A trending video showed Gbenga holding a cutlass while compelling the boy to drink a substance suspected to be Sniper. After the boy admitted he took the maize because he was hungry, Gbenga reportedly let him go.

Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident, saying passersby rushed the boy to Wesley Guild Hospital, where doctors stabilised him.
