Omisore labels governor Adeleke a ‘political orphan’, alleges defection plans to APC

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has described the incumbent governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as a “political orphan,” amid rising speculation over Adeleke’s alleged plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omisore made the statement on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television, where he claimed that Governor Adeleke had been lobbying key APC figures, including a southern governor, in an attempt to secure membership in the ruling party.

“For the past three years, he has been governing that state, with no single person decamping from APC to PDP,” Omisore said. “Meanwhile, over one-seventh of PDP members have moved to APC — Alhaji Isa Oyedokun, Dayo Babayemi, Hon. Wole Oke and others are still coming.”

He further questioned the governor’s political direction: “Why do you want to force yourself on the party? Why is the governor begging to enter the party? He is struggling, begging, and fighting to join APC.”

The former deputy governor’s remarks come amid heightened political speculation following Governor Adeleke’s recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu, which has further fueled rumours of a potential defection to the APC.
