Okpebholo suspends top aide over unauthorized fundraising

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has suspended his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Osemwengie Isere, over allegations of unauthorized fundraising related to a planned Oil and Gas Summit.
The suspension was made public on Tuesday through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ikhilor, in Benin City.
According to the statement, the governor has also ordered the immediate suspension of the proposed summit, which was originally scheduled to commence on August 7.
“Following the breach of protocol, the summit has been suspended. Mr. Isere is hereby directed to refund all monies collected from donors in relation to the event,” the SSG said.
The government also warned prospective donors to cease all engagements with the suspended adviser.
