Nigerian football icon, Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, recently hosted his former national team coach, Clemens Westerhof, at his residence in Lagos.
Westerhof, who managed the Super Eagles from 1989 to 1994, shared highlights of the reunion on Instagram on Friday, describing it as an “unforgettable night.”
He also thanked Okocha for the warm hospitality extended to him and his wife, Lilian.
“Unforgettable night of my life in Lagos, Nigeria, with my boy Jay-Jay Okocha. Thank you for hosting me and my wife Lilian. It was a pleasure to reconnect and share the good old days,” Westerhof wrote.
The Dutch coach is widely celebrated for leading Nigeria through a golden era in football. Under his leadership, the Super Eagles won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and made their first-ever appearance at the FIFA World Cup the same year, topping a group that included football giants Argentina, Bulgaria, and Greece.
Okocha, who made his national team debut under Westerhof, would later rise to become one of the most revered players in Nigerian football history.
