Ogun APC suspends Gbenga Daniel

The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended former governor and serving senator representing Ogun East, Senator Gbenga Daniel, alongside Hon. Kunle Folarin, over alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the State Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, and made available to journalists in Abeokuta.

According to the statement, both Daniel and Folarin were suspended by their respective wards—Ward 4 and Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government Area—after they failed to appear before disciplinary committees set up to investigate petitions filed against them.

“In exercise of its powers, the State Working Committee of the APC in Ogun State affirms the suspension of Senator Gbenga Daniel and Hon. Kunle Folarin by their respective wards,” the statement read.

The party explained that the disciplinary panels had invited the duo to defend themselves against allegations of anti-party conduct, but they declined to honour the invitations.

Following the development, the APC State Working Committee, chaired by Chief Yemi Sanusi, reviewed the reports of the ward committees during its meeting held on August 19 and ratified the suspension.

The party leadership stressed that the decision followed due process, noting that discipline and internal procedures remain central to the strength and unity of the APC in Ogun State.

It added that the suspension is pending further review and would remain in force until the conclusion of the party’s internal processes and any subsequent resolutions.
