Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omisore made the announcement on Saturday through a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, revealing that his formal declaration ceremony will take place on October 7 at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to the post, the event will be held under the theme “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams”, which Omisore described as the beginning of the “Osun Rescue Mission 2026.”

He called on party members, supporters, and residents of Osun State to join him at the declaration, emphasizing that his ambition was driven by the collective desire to rebuild and reposition the state for progress.

“My beloved people of Osun State, after deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC,” Omisore wrote.

“This is not just my mission, it is a collective one. I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun.”

His declaration sets the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship race as political activities intensify ahead of the 2026 polls in Osun State.
