AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Croatian midfield maestro Luka Modric on a one-year contract, with an option to extend until June 2027.

The 39-year-old, who captains the Croatian national team and won the Ballon d’Or in 2018, joins the Rossoneri after ending his 12-year spell at Spanish giants Real Madrid. The move had been widely anticipated following his decision not to renew his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu.

AC Milan are delighted to announce Luka Modric has signed a contract with the club until 30 June 2026, with an option for a one-year extension,” the club announced on Monday.

Modric arrived in Milan earlier in the day to undergo medical tests and is expected to begin training with the squad in August, ahead of the new season.

The veteran midfielder expressed his enthusiasm in a short video posted on AC Milan’s social media, saying, “I’m very happy to be here to start a new chapter in my career. A big hug to everyone.”

Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri, who led the club to a Serie A title in 2011 during his first tenure, is now back in charge and preparing for the upcoming campaign. He had hinted at Modric’s arrival during a press briefing last week.
