OAU student missing for four days after leaving to buy food

Missing OAU student
The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has intensified the search for Dorcas Oseghale, a Chemistry student who has been missing for four days.
Dorcas, matriculation number CHM/2021/165, was last seen on Thursday, August 7, after telling a friend she was going to buy food at the Students’ Village along Ede Road.
Since then, she has not been seen, and her phone lines remain unreachable.
University spokesperson Abiodun Olarewaju said the matter has been formally reported to the Osun State Police Command to widen the scope of the search.
He noted that the university’s Security Unit began monitoring the case after it surfaced on a student social media platform around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
By 6:10 p.m. the same day, Dorcas’ roommate, Akinkuade Omobolanle Beatrice, and other students formally reported the matter to campus security.
Three security officers were then assigned to accompany them to the police, which has the manpower and expertise to lead the investigation.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Simeon Bamire commended the students for promptly reporting the incident and appealed to the police and other security agencies to deploy all necessary resources.
He urged members of the public with useful information to contact the nearest police station or the university’s Security Unit.
