The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, advised prospective corps members to travel safely to their respective states of deployment and cautioned against night journeys.

NYSC management also urged all corps members to strictly adhere to the orientation schedule to ensure a smooth and successful programme.

Established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, the NYSC scheme mandates a three-week orientation camp as the foundational phase of the service year.

During the orientation course, corps members undergo paramilitary drills, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training, lectures on national issues, and cultural activities aimed at fostering unity and strengthening interpersonal relations across ethnic and religious lines.
