Nollywood veteran Dr. Chuma-Harris Odili passes away

The Ogbunike community in Anambra State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Nollywood veteran and culture promoter, Dr. Chuma-Harris Odili, popularly known as Eze Ogbono and Ogene Ogbunike.

Odili, who was contesting for the Igweship of Ogbunike, reportedly slumped on Friday, August 23, 2025, during a public event hosted by his rival for the traditional stool. Eyewitnesses said he collapsed while interacting with guests and was rushed to hospital, where he later died in the Intensive Care Unit.

His death came just a day after he had shared a message of peace and unity on social media, a gesture many have described as symbolic.

In a statement, his family confirmed his passing, describing him as a community leader, fearless activist, and custodian of culture, adding that details of his funeral will be announced later.
