Nollywood actress addresses marriage speculation with Ogogo
Popular actress and TV host, Doyin Kukoyi, has finally set the record straight regarding long-running rumors that she is secretly married to veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Speaking in an interview on Seun Oloketuyi’s YouTube channel, Kukoyi explained that the speculation began in 2022 after she shared photos with Ogogo on social media. The pictures, which were taken on a movie set, showed the two actors playing the roles of husband and wife at their on-screen daughter’s wedding.
“I was at a movie location with Ogogo, we both played the roles of husband and wife where our daughter got married. We took a picture, and I posted it online. Some people took that picture and started saying we were married. Till today, a lot of people still believe that I’m married to Ogogo,” Kukoyi said.
She admitted that she jokingly referred to Ogogo as her “husband” in the caption of the post, which further fueled the gossip. However, she clarified that her admiration for the actor was strictly professional.
“I took the picture with Ogogo because I loved him not in a romantic way, but because I respect his talent and influence in Nollywood,” she stressed.
Despite her repeated clarifications, Kukoyi revealed that fans still message her and comment online, assuming she is Ogogo’s wife.
