No security vote policy in Osun – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, says his administration funds security services strictly through the budgetary process, insisting there is no “security vote” as widely understood in Nigeria.
In a statement on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said all security-related spending in Osun complies with public finance laws, covering operational support for security agencies, communal crisis interventions, peace-building efforts, and funding for Amotekun.
He stressed that all expenditures undergo statutory approval, including memo submissions and adherence to payment procedures.
“Our security needs are met through proper processes, and I will not operate a slush fund,” Adeleke said, noting he had faced resistance over the policy.
The governor explained that the approach was informed by challenges faced when he assumed office in November 2022.
He said resources from FAAC and internally generated revenue are channelled into infrastructure, agriculture, health, salaries, pensions, and debt repayment.
Adeleke also revealed a special project account to save unexpected FAAC inflows, ensuring completion of infrastructure projects.
While awaiting resolution over seized local government funds, he assured citizens of timely delivery on both human and capital projects.
