No industrial unrest at Federal Polytechnic Offa, says management

The Management of The Federal Polytechnic, Offa has dismissed reports suggesting that industrial unrest is imminent at the institution following a recent Governing Council committee meeting held in Lagos.

In a statement, the Polytechnic’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Iroye, described the reports as inaccurate and warned that such misinformation could create unnecessary anxiety among staff and students.

Management reassured the public that the campus remains calm and fully operational, with both staff and students continuing their duties without disruption.

The statement explained that the meeting in Lagos was a committee session, not a full Governing Council meeting.

According to the statement, holding such meetings outside the Polytechnic is allowed under certain conditions.

“Lagos was chosen as the venue due to the health challenges of the Governing Council Chairman, which made travel to Offa difficult. Additionally, logistical and cost considerations for members traveling from the North-West region influenced the decision.”

The Management also noted that conducting Council meetings outside the Polytechnic has happened before and is in line with institutional regulations.

”The venue does not affect the legitimacy of the Council’s decisions, which are made through proper processes and in the best interest of the institution.” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the management expressed disappointment that union concerns were not raised through proper internal channels and urged the media to verify information before publishing to avoid spreading false rumors.

Consequently, the Polytechnic reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining industrial peace, transparency, and progress, calling on all stakeholders to continue supporting the institution’s development.
