Nigerian student, Abiola Abidoye tops UK A-level law results
A Nigerian teenager, Abiola Abidoye, has distinguished himself on the global stage after emerging as the best A-Level law student in the United Kingdom.
The 18-year-old, who studied at One Sixth Form College in Ipswich, excelled in four subjects — mathematics, further mathematics, law and physics — scoring A* in all.
He achieved an impressive 224 out of 240 in law, despite admitting the subject was not his strongest.
“I was very surprised when I found out I was the best in the country at law,” Abidoye told the Ipswich Star. “Maths and physics are my strengths, but I took law out of passion. I put in an immense amount of work, studying late into the night, and I am happy it paid off. My teachers were also wonderful and gave me great support.”
Although celebrated for his record-breaking law result, Abidoye plans to further his studies in mathematics at university, with the ambition of building a career in banking or finance.
His achievement adds to the growing list of young Nigerians excelling abroad and projecting the country’s academic brilliance on the international stage.
