Nigeria Police promotes force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi to deputy commissioner

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the promotion of its Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

The elevation, approved by the Police Service Commission, highlights DCP Adejobi’s outstanding record of professionalism, service, and dedication to the ideals of effective policing in Nigeria.

Adejobi was first appointed as the Force Spokesman in an acting capacity on February 16, 2022, when he was a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), succeeding then-Commissioner of Police Frank Mba. His appointment was later confirmed by former Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd).

Since assuming the role, DCP Adejobi has led several initiatives aimed at restoring public confidence, enhancing accountability, and modernizing the force’s communication systems.

He holds a combined honours degree in Archaeology and Geography, as well as a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, both from the University of Ibadan. From 2008 to 2016, he served as the Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police Command.

With decades of experience in police operations, public relations, and advocacy, DCP Adejobi has become a key figure in shaping the image of the Nigeria Police.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated him on the new rank, encouraging him to remain a role model and uphold the values of discipline, service, and integrity.

The police force reiterated its commitment to rewarding excellence and professionalism, in line with its broader efforts to reposition the institution for improved service delivery.
