NECO releases 2025 BECE results, announces re-sit dates

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for junior secondary school students nationwide.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects and was conducted between May 12 and May 23, 2025.

Sani explained that the results were released following the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting, held at NECO headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

The Chairperson of the Award Committee and Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Folake Olatunji-David, praised NECO for the transparent and efficient conduct of both the examination and the result-processing stages. She expressed satisfaction with the process during the committee’s deliberations.

The meeting was attended by NECO management officials and selected secondary school principals from across the country.

Meanwhile, the council has scheduled the 2025 BECE re-sit examination for July 23 and 24. The re-sit will be limited to candidates seeking to retake Mathematics and English Studies.
