NCAA calls for probe of KWAM 1 over Abuja airport security breach

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to investigate and prosecute Fuji star, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, over a security breach at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a statement on Thursday, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, said the incident, which occurred on August 5, 2025, involved an altercation between the musician and ValueJet airline staff that disrupted standard airport operations and violated aviation safety protocols.

According to reports, KWAM 1 attempted to board a ValueJet flight while carrying a flask containing liquid suspected to be alcohol. Despite warnings from the flight crew and security officials, he allegedly insisted on boarding, leading to a confrontation that spilled onto the tarmac.

A viral video from the scene shows the artiste moving dangerously close to an aircraft’s wing as it began taxiing.

In response, the NCAA suspended the licences of the flight’s operating crew — Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba — for commencing taxi procedures without clearance from Air Traffic Control (ATC). The agency also placed KWAM 1 on a six-month no-fly list.

Achimugu described the case as “serious” and deserving of full legal scrutiny to safeguard aviation safety standards.
