Manchester United renew interest in Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez
Manchester United have reignited their pursuit of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, with just two days left before the close of the summer transfer window, REPUBLICAN NIGERIA reports.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United have approached both Villa and the Argentina international’s representatives over a potential late move.
The World Cup winner is seen as an alternative option should negotiations for Royal Antwerp shot-stopper Senne Lammens fall through.
Talks for Lammens are ongoing, but United want to be fully prepared, with Martínez remaining high on their shortlist.
The Red Devils had previously targeted the 2022 World Cup winner in July, but their loan proposal was rejected by Villa, who are reluctant to sanction a departure without first securing a replacement.
Interestingly, Villa themselves are reportedly monitoring Lammens, who is also admired by United and could be tempted by a switch to Old Trafford.
Romano revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that Martínez continues to feature prominently on United’s radar as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options before the transfer deadline.
