Luis Suarez handed six-match ban

Inter Miami striker Luis Suárez has been suspended for six matches after the Leagues Cup disciplinary committee sanctioned him for his role in a brawl during his team’s clash with Seattle Sounders.

Suárez was found guilty of spitting at a member of the Sounders’ backroom staff during the incident, which took place five days ago. The committee confirmed the punishment on Friday.

His teammates were not spared either. Midfielder Sergio Busquets was handed a two-match suspension for violent conduct, while defender Tomás Avilés received a three-game ban for similar offences.

Seattle assistant coach Steven Lenhart also faced disciplinary action, with the committee issuing him a five-match suspension for violent conduct.

For now, the penalties are restricted to the Leagues Cup competition. However, there are suggestions that Major League Soccer (MLS) may decide to review the matter and impose additional sanctions on the players involved.
