Lagos government shuts popular Lagos club

The Lagos State Government has sealed off Vaniti Club House on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, over repeated traffic violations.
Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), led by General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki, carried out the enforcement in partnership with the agency’s Rescue and Compliance Unit.
According to authorities, the club had consistently caused gridlock in the area through illegal parking and obstruction of public roads, despite multiple warnings.
“This action became necessary after the club ignored several notices. We must prioritize public safety and ensure our roads are not converted into private parking lots,” Bakare-Oki said.
He added that the clampdown is part of a wider crackdown on clubs, lounges, and event centres that flout traffic laws.
LASTMA’s spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed that the facility will remain shut until the management complies fully with all traffic and safety regulations.
